Four well-known South West charities have come together to provide services for local people suffering from domestic abuse and sexual violence. The LEESAR (Listen, Engage, Empower, Support, Advocate, Recover) partnership held its first launch event at Kilworthy Park, Tavistock, on Thursday 10 May.

The partnership comprises Splitz Support Services, North Devon Against Domestic Abuse (NDADA), Stop Abuse For Everyone (SAFE) and Devon Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Services (DRCSAS), and was commissioned by Devon County Council to provide services across Devon.

Cllr Jeffrey Moody, Lead Member for Health and Wellbeing at West Devon Borough Council, said: “We’re thrilled to have hosted the first launch event for the LEESAR partnership. Sadly, we know that across Devon there are people suffering in abusive relationships who are afraid to speak out, or who may not even recognise that their partner is abusive.  Support is available, and it’s important to realise that you are not alone.”
