Mobile Shop Closure
Published on 08/01/2025

This message also comes with sad news that we are going to need to stop
running the mobile shop route from mid August with the last day being
August 22nd. We have recently had to reevaluate our finances after being
given notice of a rent increase on our shop in Red Lion Yard. In April
we had a wage increase for all our workers in line with the minimum wage
and this meant giving more voluntary hours to keep the mobile shop
going. We were happy to do this but with the imminent rent increase and
access to parking for loading the mobile shop becoming more difficult in
Red Lion Yard we have with a heavy heart made the hard decision to close
the mobile shop at present to focus on our resilience and making sure
the shop remains sustainable.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all of you for supporting us
for so long. We’re so sorry to be removing a source of local, organic
food from your community. We’ll also really miss you and being a part of
your community and all the conversations we have. You have all been a
big part of our lives and we hope we will still see you from time to
time if you are ever in Okehampton and able to visit the shop.
We hope to continue using the mobile shop to visit fetes/ open days and
occasional markets so do let us know if you have anything in your
village we could come to. If in time we can re start our mobile shop
route you will of course be the first to know.
Huge apologies again and please let people know if you see them.
